Working visit of Ilyumzhinov to Singapore

During the working visit to Singapore the FIDE President heard the report of the FIDE Vice-President Zurab Azmaiparashvili on the outcome of his inspection tour to Khanty-Mansiysk, where the 39th World Chess Olympiad will start soon. He also met with the President of the Singapore Chess Federation, FIDE General Secretary Ignatius Leong. At the meeting the issues of development and popularization of chess in Singapore, implementation of "Chess in Schools" programme and the issues in respect of the functioning of ASEAN Chess Academy were discussed in details.

The FIDE President, Head of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Vietnam on a working visit. At the airport Thang Shon Niat he was met by the President of the country Nguyen Minh Triet, the Secretary of the City Council Le Thanh Hai and the Mayor of Ho Chi Minh Le Hoang Quan as well as high officials of the President's Administration and Foreign Ministry. The President's programme has been very tight and resulted in very important news. Now Vietnam shall be part of the FIDE Chess in Schools programme. First the wisest game shall be taught in several provinces of the country. Should the pilot programme be successful, chess will become part of the comprehensive curriculum of Vietnam.

Transport connections between "Sheremetyevo – 2" and "Sheremetyevo – 1"
The bus "Sheremetyevo" goes between the Terminal 2 and the terminal 1/C. The bus station that is in the area of the railway station of the Terminal 2 is situated near the side of the road from the sideways of the hotel “Novotel”. The bus station in the area of terminal 1/C is situated near the railway station between the pavilion "Arrival" of Terminal 1 and terminal C.
Public Transport: From the terminal 1/C to the terminal 2: Bus ?851, travel time 10-15 minutes.
From the Terminal-2 to the Terminal-1/C: Bus ?817, travel time 10-15 minutes.
Time table: 06:00 a.m. – 23.00 p.m.

* Attention! Traveling time by car is approximate, without considering traffic jams.

IF YOU FLY THROUGH MOSCOW IT WILL BE BETTER TO BOOK THE TRANSFER FROM THE "SHEREMETYEVO-2" TO THE AIRPORTS "VNUKOVO", "DOMODEDOVO" IN THE AGENCY WHERE YOU BUY TICKETS.

In order to avoid possible critical situations you need to have at least 3-4 hours (without considering possible traffic jams)between arrival and departure from different airports.
Each passenger may have 20 kilos of his luggage free. The extra luggage is paid 1% of the cost of the ticket.

Meeting with the President of Bulgaria Mr Georgi Parvanov
Sofia 16.12.2009 - FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov today in Sofia. Mr Parvanov expressed his satisfaction that Bulgaria will organise the World Championship Match 2010 and he assured the FIDE President that the event will be held successfully and on the highest level.

At the same time, Mr Georgi Parvanov informed the FIDE President that the Bulgarian Chess Federation will propose its own candidate for the position of President of the European Chess Union in the elections to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, September 2010.

The 1st Florencio Campomanes Memorial

On August 28, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived on a working visit to the Philippines, where he took part in the opening ceremony of the 1st Florencio Campomanes Memorial. The idea to hold the tournament was born two months ago in Manila during the previous visit of the FIDE President to the Philippines. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov proposed the organization and financing of a tournament with an unprecedented prize fund of 1 mln USD to grace the memory of his predecessor, the 5th FIDE President Florencio Campomanes.
These tournaments with prize fund of 100,000 USD will be held for 10 years in various ASEAN countries. The tournament is attended by over 150 players from 16 countries. During the visit Ilyumzhinov met with the President of National Olympic Committee Mr. Jose Cojuangco, President of Philippines Chess Federation Mr. Prospero Pichay, the President of Iran Chess Federation Mr. Mohammed Kambuzia, Vice-President of Vietnam Chess Federation Mr. Dang Tat Thang. At the meetings were also present Charge d'affaires of Russia in the Philippines Sergei Shepilov.

Working visit of FIDE President to Malaysia

On the 27th of August the FIDE President, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in the capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur on a working visit.
FIDE President met the President of the Malaysian Olympic Council Yang Mulia Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar, where Mr. Ilyumzhinov requested his kind assistance in the inclusion of chess into the Olympic Games programme. There was a constructive dialogue where Mr. Ja'afar noted special popularity and serious perspectives of chess development in Malaysia.
There has been a flag transfer symbolic ceremony to the delegation of Malaysian Chess Federation, which shall be taking part in the World Youth Championships 2010 in Greece this October. After that FIDE President met with representatives of mass media.
The meeting of Ilyumzhinov with the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Y.A.B. Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek has started in an unusual way with a chess game. After some serious efforts, the FIDE President found a technical possibility to resign to his honoured opponent. Naturally, the consequent dialogue, which was taking place in a friendly atmosphere, turned out to be very effective. The main topic of the discussion was the further cooperation between FIDE and Malaysia in respect of Chess in Schools programme, and education of trainers and arbiters.
All meetings of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in Kuala Lumpur were held in a friendly cordial atmosphere with the presence of the President of Malaysian Chess Federation Mr. Tan Sri Ramli Ngab Talib.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visits Chennai, India

On August 26, FIDE President, Head of Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov during his working trip to Asian countries visited Chennai, where the headquarters of the All India Chess Federation is based. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the Honorary Secretary of AICF Mr. D.V. Sundar. Besides the officials and journalists, the meeting was attended by many famous chess players - members of Indian national teams and the young chess players, many of whom have already achieved notable success in international tournaments. The players were interested in preparations for forthcoming World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk. FIDE President told about his working trips, future plans regarding "Chess in Schools" program and holding of official FIDE tournaments in India, as well as the trainings for Arbiters and Trainers. The same day FIDE President visited the Russian Centre of Science and Culture with an active chess club in the premises. It is remarkable that the current World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand got his first lessons in this chess club.

Dear friends!

Attention to all FIDE Chess Federations!

Please provide all data in respect of the changes/amendments for the online registration to the Organising Committee by the August 30th 2010. The proper request shall be sent by the Organising Committee to all FIDE Federations. In case these are not sent by the said date, the Organising Committee shall not be in a position to provide invitations for entry visas to Russia. The Federations are also kindly requested to effect payments for airport tax and rooms upgrade by the same date, August 30th 2010. Otherwise the airplane bookings and hotel rooms reservations shall be cancelled.

FIDE President announces sponsorship package of two million US dollars for next two years

FIDE President's visit to Beirut has brought excellent results. After several meetings and high-level talks he announced the sponsorship package worth 2 million US dollars for the next two years. "According to this agreement with Mr Alain Khoueiry, owner of Flipper 7 and Vogue Publishing, the sponsor shall provide two million USD for event sponsorship such as the Grand-Prix series for men and women, as well as for a number of other interesting ideas which were discussed," Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said. "The potential in Lebanon is enormous and thank to Mr. Khoueiry, we have found co-operation at the highest levels in Government as well as in the business community."
