Bridport Chess Club is a relatively new club formed approximately 8 years ago by a group of friends who wanted to play chess on a regular but casual basis. Since then the club has grown and from small beginnings has made good progress.
We have entered teams in the Dorset League for about 6 years and meet weekly at the George which is in Bridport town centre on a Wednesday evening from 7.00 pm onwards.
We currently have 1 team in the Dorset League and play matches on a home and away basis. There are also two in house club tournaments running throughout the season; one a knock out tournament and the other an all play all competition.
However if you just want to play social chess and not take the game too seriously you would also be welcome as we like to have a fairly relaxed atmosphere at the club.
Compared with other local clubs we have a relatively young membership and are keen to expand within all age groups and ideally enter more teams in the league.
